How to change Port of Remote Desktop Web Connection

Everyone knows about the Remote Desktop Web Connection, which we always use when we want to remote computer via the web. Here, I will discuss how to change an existing port on the remote desktop connection (RDP), the default port is usually 3389. We can change it for security. Before that to enable remote desktop connection see how to enable remote desktop through registry. The following are the steps to change an existing port:
  • Open the registry, by clicking on the start menu and choose Run and type 'regedit' (without quote ' ').
  • Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SYSTEM \ CurrentControlSet \ Control \ Terminal Server \ WinStations \ RDP-Tcp, find the REG_DWORD PortNumber.
  • Double click on the portnumber, will look like the picture below, select the decimal value and content of data with the selected port, here I give an example to the content of the data value is 2012.
  • When finished changing the port of the remote desktop connection, restart the computer.
