How to Remove Domain Controller in Active Directory on Windows Server 2003

Today, at my office..i demote a domain server and it done successfully. The steps are very simple and easy..

Here are few steps for remove a domain controller in active directory on your windows server 2003:
  • On the Start Menu, click Run, type 'dcpromo /forceremoval' and then click Ok Button.
  • On the wizard, you can see the Active Directory Installation Wizard, it asks you to choose you want to continue removing active directory or no. In this step you must choose 'Yes' Button.
  • Click 'Next' on the Welcome Active Directory Installation Wizard.
  • You must check if the catalog's not in domain server that you want to remove, click 'Next' to continue.
  • In this step, you must enter your new password for Local Administrator. It will unjoin your domain server from your Domain.
  • Click 'Next' to confirm remove Active Directory wihout updating Forest Metadata.
  • Here're the process of demotion Active Directory.
  • Click 'Finish', the Active Directory has been removed succesfully.
